Vineyard + Wine + Chef + Album

Episode 1:5

Vineyard: Stoney Vine
Wine: Funkadelic and Psychedelic
Chef: Russell Lowell of Russell’s in Bothell
Album: Maggot Brain by Funkadelic

Join us for our 5th edition of VINEYARD+WINE+CHEF+ALBUM on Thursday, June 24th at 6pm PST.

We are going to dive into the Rocks District of Milton Freewater AVA to discuss our Estate Vineyard, Stoney Vine, and the Psychedelic Syrah which comes from that vineyard. We thought that it would be fun to discuss the differences between Stoney Vine and the Funk Vineyard, so the wine portion of the evening is a “two-fer”, as we added the Funkadelic to the menu. As a reminder, we have a great special on our 2018 Psychedelic Syrah. (scroll down to see offer)

Speaking of menus, our Chef this month is none other than Russell Lowell of the eponymous Russell’s in Bothell, WA. Russell created a killer food pairing to go with the Psychedelic and Funkadelic, so scroll down and re-create the beef tenderloin for our Zoom call.

Trey will be breaking down the album Maggot Brain; by The Funkadelic, of course! Maggot Brain is the third studio album by the American funk band Funkadelic. It was recorded in Detroit during late 1970 and early 1971, before being released in July 1971 by Westbound Records. Shortly after Maggot Brain was recorded, Tawl Ross, Eddie Hazel, Billy Nelson, and Tiki Fulwood left the band for various reasons.

Please RSVP so we can send you an email with the ZOOM link the week of the event.

PSYCHEDELIC SPECIAL OFFER

Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points

All Syrah brought up with plenty of stems (60%) and aged in 25% new oak, the 2018 Psychedelic is more transparent than the denser, rich 2019 yet offers a similar, gorgeously complex style in its red and blue suits, iron, tapenade, and gamey aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodies, it’s balanced and has a seamless texture, good overall concentration, and an already up-front, approachable style. Nevertheless, it has the tannins and balance to keep 15 year. It’s another head-turning wine from this estate.
