Summer of '21
Farming is hard. But imagine you how hard it is when it’s 116 degrees (or 11 days in a row over 100)! We are experiencing the hottest stretch of weather that we have EVER seen in Washington State. So, what does that mean for the grapes? Thankfully we work with some great growers, and they saw this coming. Water, water, water is the key to keep the vines upright and healthy. Sunburn and water stress are the main worries during extreme heat events. To combat that, you want shading from the leaves to protect the fruit, and you want available moisture levels elevated so the vines can survive. Our team has definitely been on top of their game and we are pretty optimistic. As the heat breaks this week, we will keep a cloe eye on things. More on that next month.
Remember to check out the Events page of our website frequently. We have a ton of cool dinners, trips, and shows coming up, and we want you to join us. What’s more, we are updating this monthly (if not more often) and we will for sure be adding MORE music and wine dinners throughout the year!
Finally, save the date for July 29th this month, as our 6th installment of VINEYARD+WINE+CHEF+ALBUM is happening at 6pm PST. We will be talking about our Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, The Illusionist, and highlighting Red Mtn. Vineyard. This will be a hugely popular ZOOM, so please, as always, RSVP with Daniel@sofhcellars.com so he can get you the zoom link the week of the show.
