So, this is going to be a fun year for our fans! We are kicking off our yearlong campaign called Vineyard+Wine+Chef+Album this month. The goal is to provide you with some insight into our winemaking and how the vineyards influence what we do in the cellar. It will also let us geek out over the technical aspects of the vineyard, including how location influences what grapes we have planted and the importance of elevation, trellising systems, and of course, the soils!

Each episode, we’ll pair one of our vineyards with one of our wines, and you can pull the selected wine from your cellar (vintage does not matter). This will all be done over ZOOM to allow for the interaction that we crave these days! We welcome all of your questions. To top it off, we are partnering up with some of our favorite chefs, both local (right here in Walla Walla) as well as from Seattle and beyond! They will create a recipe for the wine that we are featuring, then we will publish that recipe right here on our blog! The chef will join our Zoom to discuss the dish, and we will get a chance to learn a bit about the history of the restaurant. For the adventurous folks out there, you can create the recipe that same night as our Zoom and let us know how the chef did with the pairing! And finally, we will discuss an album that has influenced us in some way, shape, or form (you didn’t think we would be leaving music out of the discussion, did you?).

VINEYARD

To kick off this new series, on February 25th we are going to talk about one of most influential vineyards in our winemaking, Blue Mtn. Vineyard, located in Walla Walla. We work with our 8 acre Estate block (Binaural Block) as well as an additional 5 acres of the older vine blocks. This vineyard is typically the base vineyard for our Bordeaux varietal wines. We’ll discuss what makes this vineyard special and how the vineyard dictates some of our winemaking decisions.

WINE

We want you to dive into your cellars and pull out your favorite vintage of The Archimage! We’ll discuss what goes into the production of our Reserve Bordeaux blend, and Trey will give some insight as to why we make this wine in the first place. CHEF

Our great friend and restauranteur Tom Maccarone is our first guest chef. Tom opened TMACS in 2005 and runs one of the great dining establishments in Walla Walla. His recipe for this pairing will be posted here on 2/18. We will also include the recipe in the email we send with the ZOOM meeting info. Feel free to make this at home, and be sure to bring your questions for Tom!

ALBUM

Jerry grew up during the height of Beatlemania and is a huge Beatles fan. The Beatles’ last album (sad face), Let It Be, is the perfect album to talk about tonight. While it was the Beatles’ swan song album (the last performance on top of Apple Records in London took place at the end of their recording session for this album), it remains one of their best. Pick your favorite song off the album and we can dive into it while drinking the rest of our Archimage!

We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, February 25th at 6pm PST.

Make sure to RSVP!
