2011 "The Conjurer" Red Blend 750ml
New Release
This Bordeaux-style blend is comprised of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. Aged for 14 months in 100% french oak (26% new), this wine has all the hallmarks of a cool vintage - fresh red fruits like Bing cherries and raspberries, but with the classic herbal undertones of great Cabernet and Cabernet Franc. Crisp acidity and superbly balanced tannins complete the package. The fruit is sourced from the Blue Mountain Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley (12%) and Blackrock Vineyard in the Yakima Valley (88%). Cheers!
Rand Sealey's Review of Washington Wines - 2011 Sleight of Hand Cellars “The Conjurer” Red Blend, Columbia Valley ($28)
This blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc shows a brilliant young crimson color and precocious aromas of raspberry, cherry, plum and rosebuds. The flavors are ripe, juicy and mouth filling, augmented by licorice, cocoa, roasted coffee and variegated minerals. The back picks up notes of squeezed berry juices, cherry liqueur and crème de cassis, followed by a lightly oaked (20% new) moderate tannin finish. 18.5/20 points.
